GIBBON - Residents of Gibbon are busy with familiar tasks today. Pumping water from basements and removing carpet, furniture and wet drywall are too fresh in the memories of many central Nebraskans.

Gibbon was hit by the historic March flooding which swamped the state.  Then, the high waters came again last week.

Fire officials say 30 to 35 houses on the northeast side were affected in March.  This time around 70 houses all over town saw damage.  Most of the damage came from the Wood River, but this time the Platte River also flooded and affected a subdivision south of town.

NCN’s Brandon Aksamit spoke with Gibbon Second Fire Chief Trista Cress about the flooding, resilience and recovery of the town.
